Lee Hyori recently shared her worries about a landslide in Woomyun Mountain.

On July 27th, the pop star tweeted, “There was some big damage in my parents’ neighborhood. I called them as I was worried after reading an article, but they’re fine. There shouldn’t be any additional damages.. It’s a regrettable situation.”

Some sections of Seoul are currently flooded due to a severe downpour and a landslide which occurred at Woomyun Mountain. The landslide damaged many homes in Seoul’s Bangbae-dong area, with even some unfortunate fatalities being reported.

The downpour hasn’t let up and many areas in and near Seoul have been severely flooded which damaged houses, subway stations, and government offices.

[NEWS] Lee Hyo Ri’s resident registration number has been leaked

Around 4,600 famous celebrities’ resident registration numbers have been leaked because of the Federation of Korean Music Performers’ mistake, Lee Hyo Ri made her position clear as being one of them.

On the 26th, the Lee Hyo Ri side said, “The organization have to protect singers’ rights and interests but they caused us harm.”

But the Lee Hyo Ri side also said, “Fortunately, we hasn’t been directly affected by this event we will see how things go.”

Who are the most influential fashion icons in Korea in 2011? The Chosun Ilbo asked 32 fashion experts to name five celebrities in politics, business, sports, culture or entertainment in any order, and came up with a representative list.

◆ Kim Yu-na

The 2010 Olympic figure skating champion was the undisputed No. 1 with 15 votes. Respondents said Kim has been an influential figure in fashion for quite some time since whatever she wore always sold out instantly. But it was the clothes she wore at the final presentation for Pyeongchang's 2018 Winter Olympics that made her an unbeatable fashion icon.

But some pointed to Kim's slightly conservative dress sense, saying she seems unwilling to break with convention and take the risks her slim figure would allow her to take.

◆ The Lee Family

The respondents' choice reflects the influence of the Samsung Group on the entire fashion industry, and the desire of the public to emulate fashion style of the rich and famous.

◆ G-Dragon

G-Dragon, the leader of boy band Big Bang, was named as the biggest fashion leader in showbiz with nine votes, which placed him third overall. The experts praised him being unafraid of a provocative look, and noted the adulation he enjoys from teenagers and those in their 20s.

◆ Kong Hyo-jin, Lee Hyori

Among women in showbiz, actress Kong Hyo-jin and singer Lee Hyo-ri came in fourth and co-fifth with eight and five votes. Kong's innocent and somewhat bland look in fact highlighted her fashion sense. Experts said she can wear almost anything and still look great. By contrast, Lee is "a true trendsetter who transformed people's view of what looks sexy," according to one of the experts.

◆ Kim Yong-ho

A surprising entry was photographer Kim Yong-ho, who despite his relative obscurity came in fifth with five votes. Kim usually sports black and white, and was praised for his innovative use of classic items. His influence in the fashion industry through his photography naturally also played a role.

◆ Politicians

In politics, Grand National Party lawmakers Na Kyung-won and Hong Jung-wook made it into the top 10 with five and four votes, respectively. Na shared fifth place, and Hong eighth.

[NEWS] Singer Lee Hyo-lee’s ex-songwriter copied songs

A district court ordered singer Lee Hyo-lee‘s former songwriter to pay her former agency 270 million won in compensation, Friday, for the damage it suffered from his illegal copying of foreign songs.The Seoul Central District Court ruled that songwriter Lee Jae-young, who goes by the pseudonym “Bahnus”, provided plagiarized songs to Lee’s former agency CJ E&M last year.

Bahnus received 27 million won in return for supplying six songs to the agency, which were included on Lee’s fourth album. However, it turned out that the songs were not his own but ones simply downloaded from a foreign music website.

“CJ E&M suffered damage amounting to 600 million won and was sued by foreign songwriters and domestic companies on charges of copyright infringement due to the plagiarism. Lee’s agency also claims that the controversy badly affected the sale of Lee’s album, causing losses of up to 360 million won”, a judge said in the ruling. Bahnus is also on trial on other charges. In October, he received a jail sentence of 18 months for fraud, obstruction of business and forging documents.

The song “Memory”, was also almost identical to “The Alphabet Song”, by British band Second Person.

[NEWS] Top Stars Donate Belongings to Charity

Singer Lee Hyo-ri, actress Park Si-yeon and fashion stylists Han Hye-yeon and Jung Bo-yoon are holding a charity bazaar of their personal belongings from Thursday to Saturday to raise money for various causes. Close to 1,000 items, ranging from shoes to jewelry, are scheduled to be sold.

Proceeds from the sale will be delivered to a number of charities that the celebrities support. Lee donates regularly to groups that shelter abandoned pets, while Park supports patients suffering from leukemia. Han and Jung plan to donate their proceeds to civic groups promoting animal welfare.

“We have held several charity bazaars in the past and these celebrities have now come together again to support a good cause,” said the organizers.
